Come join fellow Columbia alumni at The Francis in Sarasota for our next luncheon event. Our invited guest is Ms. Lee Dougherty Ross, Vice Chair of The Artist Series Concerts of Sarasota and its Director of Competitions and Community Outreach. Locating to Sarasota in 1996, Lee and her husband, Jerold Ross, co-founded what is now known as the Artist Series Concerts. Lee debuted at age twelve as a piano soloist with the Norfolk, Virginia Symphony Orchestra and later performed the Rachmaninoff 2nd Piano Concerto with the Eastman Rochester Symphony. She graduated from Eastman School of Music with a double major in both piano and voice. Her singing career included performances at Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall and the Broadway stage in New York, Queen Elizabeth Hall in London and The Kennedy White House. As a double treat, Mezzo Soprano, Amy Jo Connours will delight us with a solo, accompanied by Lee on piano! Ms. Connours is active in many of Sarasota’s finest organizations and is currently serving as the alto section leader for Gloria Musicae. She is a frequent guest artist for the Sarasota Artist Series Concerts and has toured through Europe in Spain, Ireland and Scotland. An accomplished Oratorio singer, Amy has sung Handel’s Messiah, performed Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Mozart’s Coronation Mass, and has performed the beautiful & haunting Celtic Mass by Michael McGlynn, and performed Durufle’s Requiem, to multiple ovations. Ms. Connours began singing with Mozart’s The Magic Flute and has amassed an eclectic repertoire that multiple genres from opera, oratorios and the classics, to jazz and contemporary composers.
