Event Information
Each event consists of lectures and performances about composers and musicians lost during the Holocaust.
“We want to bring to light not only the names of the artists and composers lost but also expose the world to the part of them that still exists: their compositions,” says Paul Dykstra. Paul is the lecturer and one of the performers who honor the lives and legacies of the composers for this program. “Composers like Gideon Klein and Ilse Weber created beauty in some of the world’s most awful circumstances. Time and again I’m awed by the fact that even in desolation, isolation, and pain, they could make art that speaks to the soul,” explains Paul. Please attend what we feel will be a memorable and important contribution to our Columbia community.
