Adam Shub is a career member of the Senior Foreign Service and assumed duties as the United States Consul General in São Paulo in August 2018. He previously served as Deputy Chief of Mission to the U.S. Mission to the European Union in Brussels, where he was Charge d’Affaires ad interim from January 2017 to July 2018.Mr. Shub has served in a variety of overseas assignments in Europe, the Middle East, and Latin America, including in Embassy Brasilia from 1996 to 1999.Mr. Shub was Economic Counselor in Baghdad, Iraq and the Director of Regional and Multilateral Affairs in the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs. As Minister Counselor for Economic Affairs at the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City, he led work on trade and investment, transportation, energy, financial, environmental and health issues. He also served as Counselor for Economic Affairs in Lima, Peru, helping secure passage of the U.S.-Peru Trade Promotion Agreement, and as an exchange diplomat in France’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Other assignments have included Russia, Venezuela and Cuba.
