"Wings of Gold" is the true story of six remarkable women who made history as recruits in a naval aviation experiment in 1972. At a time of societal upheaval amid the women’s movement and protests against the Vietnam War, a maverick chief of naval operations decided it was time that women should train to fly Navy aircraft. They were not expected to succeed, and certainly not to make their careers in the military.
