Begin with a three-night sojourn in Lisbon, one of the world’s oldest cities, offering highlights aplenty, including the iconic Belém Tower and the Monument to the Discoveries. Travel north to the medieval city center of Oporto, a UNESCO site, and enjoy a private cruise along the Douro River to a port lodge, where you have the opportunity to taste the region’s renowned wine. In the pastoral Alentejo region, spend two nights in a 13th-century castle restored as a pousada before continuing south to encounter Portugal’s maritime legacy in Sagres. After, return to Lisbon to spend a night in a restored 19th-century palace, a fitting finale to our adventure.
