The Jazz Ensemble from Columbia University's Louis Armstrong Jazz Performance Program, directed by Bruce Barth, wins first prize in the College Combo division at the Next Generation Jazz Festival competition in Monterey, CA on Saturday, April 6th, 2019. The ensemble features Liam Broderick '21CC on guitar, Joseph Block '21CC on piano, Aaron Kranzler '21CC on alto sax, James Haddad '22CC on trumpet, Daniel Mesko '19CC on drums and Jack Aylor CC'19 on bass. 

The Tribeca Film Festival returns this spring for its 18th edition, which celebrates storytelling in all its forms from film to TV, VR to gaming. Columbia University continues to have a strong presence at the festival with 34 alumni, faculty, and current students. Join in the festivities from April 24 through May 5 and see a film by a Columbian.

For artist Kristin Simmons '12CC—who was recently presented with the United Nations’ (UN) Artist of the Year Award—her journey to pursue her passion full-time was not always so clear-cut.

The Whitney Museum of American Art announced the artists selected to present at the 2019 Whitney Biennial, co-organized by Whitney curators, Jane Panetta and Rujeko Hockley ‘05CC. Seven Columbia alumni artists will participate in this year’s Whitney Biennial.

It's awards season again and the Oscars is right around the corner. This year, six Columbia filmmakers were nominated in several categories. Congratulations to the talented Columbia filmmakers nominated this year!

The Shed is New York’s first multi-arts center designed to commission, produce, and present all types of performing arts, visual arts, and popular culture. The Shed is in Manhattan, where the High Line meets Hudson Yards. 

The Rema Hort Mann Foundation awarded the 2018 Emerging Artist Grant to alumni Adama Delphine Fawundu '18SOA, Dana Lok '15SOA, Ektor Garcia '16SOA, José Delgado Zúñiga '17SOA, and Sara Stern '17SOA.  

School of the Arts alumni and faculty are among participants in Queens International 2018: Volumes, including Prof. Gabo Camnitzer, Prof. Kim Hoeckele, Heidi Howard '14SOA, Asif Mian '18SOA. and Prof. Liz Phillips.
