New Jersey | 1st Annual All-Ivy Table Tennis Invitational

New Jersey Table Tennis Club (NJTTC) is a USATT-affiliated member-operated table tennis club, one of the largest in the tri-state area and one of the oldest table tennis facilities in the country. The Club features 8 top-of-the-line-tables in spacious, well-lit courts with wooden floors and has over 200 members. Our Table Tennis Invitational is a singles round robin tournament and networking event that includes drinks, food, beer/wine as well as trophies & prizes for our champions. We have invited other Ivy League alumni clubs in New Jersey to join us, so its going to be a lot of fun.

The event will begin with a welcome reception that features passed hors d’oeuvres and welcome cocktails at the terrace. Next, the guests will be seated for a presentation to learn about the origins and process of creating the world’s finest scotches, and to discover the rich history behind the world’s Most Awarded Single Malt. This will be followed by a tasting journey though the excellent Glenfiddich marks.

Engineering and Computer Science Alumni living in Rhode Island are invited to Tech Talks; for an evening of networking, dinner, and drinks. Kenzan (a software engineering and digital consulting firm) with offices in Pawtucket and New York-based Uncubed (a free video – first job platform) have organized this event. Join data scientists, engineers and developers to discuss the tech world, architecture, app development and the problems facing engineering consultancies today. Plus find out about new opportunities at Kenzan! SIPA Graduate Student Katie P. Shine is the Recruitment Coordinator for Uncubed. Holiday Party and Clothing Drive

As the weather gets colder and friends and loved ones gather to celebrate the holidays, many in our community can use our help. While not a CAABK sponsored event, let's help support our local community and help make a difference. Join CAABK at Kevin Powell's 17th Annual Holiday Party and Clothing Drive for Homeless Children. Kevin is an activist, community leader, and the founder of BK Nation, a national organization based in Brooklyn. This celebration is completely free and is a benefit for Safe Horizons Streetwork Project. Donations accepted and will be collected at the event: Coats, hats, scarves, sweaters, gloves, long thermal underwear, socks, dresses, pants, suits, shirts, blouses, shoes, boots, and children's clothes of all kinds. Dress attire: Adult, fashionable, chic *Must be 21 years old with an I.D*

We are once again offering special pricing for this event, to encourage members to join. Our Annual Membership Drive will continue and ask you to consider joining for a nominal annual fee of $35 – or $25 for recent grads within the past 10 years. Your membership will provide free or discounted admission to this and future events as well as priority invites to Columbia Association Alumni offerings. Feel free to bring along a guest, or better yet a fellow Columbia University graduate! When you become a new member or renew your membership at $35.00 ($25 for recent grads) you receive a year of CAALI membership and free entry to the wine tasting party. Non-members will be charged $50 and guests of members will be charged $25.

Columbia Connects Germany + Dinner Speech

Today, we would like to invite you to the last event of the Berlin chapter this year. Professor Dr. Michael Wolffsohn, who has widely published on foreign policy and German-Jewish-Israeli relations, will give a dinner speech in Berlin. It will also be our annual Columbia Connects Day event. Professor Wolffsohn will talk about his latest book, the story of his family which hasn’t been translated yet: “Deutschjudische Gluckskinder - Eine Weltgeschichte meiner Familie”. The talk will be in English. The dinner will take place at Café Lichtburg Restaurant in Wedding which is part of “Garden City Atlantic" (Gartenstadt Atlantik), a historic, interreligious and intercultural apartment complex. Mr. Wolffsohn inherited the complex from his grandfather Karl who was a successful businessman and owner of many cinemas in Berlin before the family fled to Palestine in 1939. In 1954, the family returned to Germany. We have seats for 21 people. Please RSVP by sending an e-mail to benno.muechler@gmail.com by October 1. We will have a nice 3-course-menu (veggie options) which costs, drinks included, 38 Euro per person.
