On Friday, March 20, Columbia University will celebrate the launch Columbia Global Center | Beijing. Alumni and friends of Columbia University are invited to join President Lee C. Bollinger, Provost Alan Brinkley, Nobel Laureate Joseph Stiglitz, President of Barnard College Debora L. Spar, President Susan H. Fuhrman of Teachers College, and other distinguished faculty and guests for a day of academic discussions followed by an alumni reception.

Join Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture Planning and Preservation (GSAPP) at a forum that will bring together a lively group of experimental architects and progressive developers to discuss the new roles of development and design in China. This forum—the first in an international series—will explore how each field has influenced the other through a time of unprecedented urban expansion. Attendees will also enjoy a guided tour of the Linked Hybrid project.
DDF1 will be moderated by Mark Wigley, Dean of GSAPP, Jeffrey Johnson, Director of China Lab and Li Hu, Director of Studio-X Beijing.

The Kang Tongbi Commemorative Symposium: Women Changing China

Barnard College hosts a symposium in honor of Kang Tongbi, one of China's earliest feminists and daughter of political reformer Kang Youwei. Come hear how a distinguished panel of some of the most prominent women in China today—a media mogul, an acclaimed author, an award-winning filmmaker, and a renowned advocate for women’s rights—are building upon Kang’s accomplishments to develop and shape a changing China.
Debora Spar, President of Barnard College and Professor at Columbia Business School, will moderate the discussion.
Reception follows at the Beijing office of Paul Hastings.
