CAA Berlin | A Conversation with Patrick Truhn '77LS, '78GSAS

Berlin, Germany
SLS'77 GSAS'78 J. Patrick Truhn served nearly thirty years in the US diplomatic service after working for five years as a university librarian in Paris. His experience spans five continents, beginning in Seoul in the mid-80s, and continuing in Milan, Casablanca, and Sofia. As one of the first US consuls general in Leipzig after the reopening of the post following German reunification, Patrick was responsible for relationship-building in the former GDR. After subsequent stints in Washington, Australia, and Indonesia, Patrick returned to Europe in 2007 as consul general in Naples and ended his career where it began, in Paris, in 2013. Today, he calls Berlin “home”. Together with us, he will look back on his life abroad and if you ask kindly perhaps on his lust for the Opera, too.
