CAA Austria | Wine Tasting and Book Presentation

Where: Ma Maison. Am Hof 13, 1010 Vienna Cost: €20 per person (covers wine tasting, content, stemware and finger food) Register: Please register by Wednesday, 18 April. (be sure to include Columbia as your alma mater) WINE TASTING Since their nadir just over 30 years ago, Austrian wines have made historic strides and now regularly earn their place on the world stage -- especially the white wines. We want to honor that progress and share some insider tips with a tasting of excellent Austrian wines you won't find on every corner. We'll be hearing directly from the vintners while tasting wines from Burgenland, Lower Austria and Styria. Of course, there will be finger food and a chance to clear your palate before moving through the selection. Guests can also purchase bottles of their favorite varieties. BOOK PRESENTATION Author Nicholas Smith '14JRN is a fellow Columbian, and his latest book is just headed to the presses. "Kicks: The Great American Story of Sneakers" is a cultural history of sneakers, tracing the footprint of one of our most iconic fashions across sports, business, pop culture, and American identity. Nicholas has a good eye for identifying uniqueness in the midst of ubiquity, and it will be fun to get his perspective on the pedigrees of our favorite leisure shoes. Be sure to enter the raffle to win an autographed copy of Nicholas's book! We hope to see you there! If you have any questions, please contact Eric Blackwell.
